Chapter 10 Reflection
More recently, since I began posting videos to send in for college pre-screen auditions, I have learned how to upload my own content onto YouTube. I have posted videos of myself dancing, acting, and singing. Most of them are on private, then the links were sent to each college that needed to have access to the videos. However, there are a few that are public, since I applied to a singing competition that required the privacy settings to be on “public”.
I usually have a hard time listening to myself sing on a recording, because I can always nitpick and see the little flaws that I couldn’t fix in a recording session. That’s why I try not to put most of my videos on public, since I know I’ll overthink it and feel self-conscious. Almost a year after most of these videos were posted, I came to ONU for Musical Theatre. A few of my friends told me they had listened to my public YouTube videos and told me that they sounded good! I’ve slowly started to feel a little more comfortable filming myself singing, especially with the support of my friends. I may eventually feel good enough to upload more public videos onto YouTube doing what I love to do – perform!
I really have a strong appreciation for YouTube and all of the positive things that I get from using this social media site. Being on YouTube allows me to have access to many things that are beneficial to me, while also being able to post content that will be necessary for my professional career. 🎭
